The Kahiltna Glacier is the longest glacier in the Alaska Range, stretching about forty four miles from its source on the southwest slope of Denali near Kahiltna Pass, at an elevation of roughly 10,320 feet. Its main channel flows south between Mount Foraker to the west and Mount Hunter to the east. The glacier was first recorded as the Car-ilt-nu Glacier by the explorer Lieutenant J. S. Herron in 1902, and it also carries the alternate name Kagheltnu Lia.
