Johns Hopkins Glacier is a 12-mile tidewater glacier in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in Alaska, named in 1893 by Harry Fielding Reid after Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. It descends from the Fairweather Range to a terminus in Johns Hopkins Inlet, with a peak elevation of 1,811 feet and a terminus roughly 225 to 330 feet high and about a mile wide. Unlike most of the world's glaciers, which are retreating, Johns Hopkins Glacier has been advancing since the 1920s, a pattern attributed to a submarine end moraine that limits calving and melting together with heavy snowfall from the Fairweather Range.
