An interfluve is a narrow, elongated, plateau-like or ridge-like landform lying between two valleys, or more generally an area of higher ground between two rivers within the same drainage system. It represents the land left standing as the river valleys on either side of it are cut down by fluvial erosion, and its exact shape depends on the composition of the rock or sediment it is made of and the erosional processes acting on it.
