Indian Wells Valley is an arid, north-south trending basin in east-central California. In geologic terms it forms a southern extension of Owens Valley, separated from it by the recent volcanic deposits of the Coso Range. The valley is bounded by a major fault on its west side and, unlike Owens Valley, by the Garlock Fault to its south, and it lies within California's South Lahontan hydrologic region.
