Imerkhevi is a valley in the north of the Şavşat district in Turkey Artvin Province, along the border with Georgia, home to 15 villages of Imerkhevian Georgians who speak a local Georgian dialect. It lies east of Nigali and west of the Arsiani Range, known locally as Yalnızçam, bounded by Adjara to the north. Its population, ethnic Georgians spread across 14 hamlets around Meydancık, are Sunni Muslims closely integrated with Turkish society, almost all bilingual in Georgian and Turkish, and their settlements carry both official Turkish names and unofficial Georgian ones. The Imerkhevian dialect shares features with the neighboring Adjarian dialect of Georgian.
