Hound Tor is a granite tor, a rugged outcrop of weathered bedrock, on Dartmoor in Devon, England. It formed as granite exposed at the surface was broken along natural joints and slowly weathered into its present jagged, tower like silhouette, a process typical of the many tors scattered across Dartmoor's granite upland. The formation's dramatic shape has made it a popular hiking destination and film location.
