A hoodoo is a tall, thin spire of rock shaped by erosion, typically made of relatively soft rock capped by a harder, more erosion resistant stone that shields the column beneath it from further weathering. Hoodoos generally form within sedimentary rock and volcanic rock formations, most famously in badlands terrain.
