The Hisar Valley runs east to west along the southern slopes of the Hisar Range in Tajikistan, bordering Khatlon Province to the north. About 100 kilometers long and up to 20 kilometers wide at its center, it stretches from Vahdat district eastward to Tursunzoda district on the Uzbekistan border. The valley holds Dushanbe, the Tajik capital, and Hisar district at its center, at elevations of 700 to 1,000 meters. The Kofarnihon River irrigates its upper and middle sections, and summer temperatures around 29 degrees Celsius combined with reliable irrigation make it one of the main cotton growing areas in Tajikistan.
