The Hen and Chicken Islands, usually known simply as the Hen and Chickens, lie east of the Northland Peninsula off the coast of northern New Zealand. They sit 12 kilometers east of Bream Head and 40 kilometers southeast of Whangarei, with a total area of about 8.44 square kilometers.
