Hallstätter Glacier

The Hallstätter Glacier is the largest glacier in the Dachstein Mountains of Austria, lying immediately beneath the northern foot of the Dachstein itself and running down to the Eissee lake below the Simony Hut at about 2,205 meters. It is bounded to the east by the High Gjaidstein and sealed at its western snout by the Schoeberl, with the eastern flank of the Hohes Kreuz ridge forming its western border. In its upper third the glacier flows around the prominent Eisstein landmark, and at its head to the south it is bordered by the Hunerkogel and the Dirndln.
