The Great Sand Hills are a field of sand dunes in southwestern Saskatchewan, Canada, and the second largest area of active dunes in the province after the Athabasca Sand Dunes. They lie within the roughly 1,900 square kilometer Great Sandhills Ecological Reserve and are built from finely ground rock flour deposited near the end of the last ice age, about 12,000 years ago. Frequent wind in the region continually reshapes the dunes.
