The Great Pamir, also called Big Pamir, is a U-shaped, grassy valley in eastern Wakhan National Park in Badakhshan Province, northeastern Afghanistan. About 60 kilometers long, it forms part of the Pamir Mountains at the western end of the Pamir Knot and makes up the eastern section of the Wakhan Corridor, the narrow mountainous strip between Pakistan and Tajikistan, bordered by the Southern Alichur Range to the north and the Nicholas Range and Wakhan Range to the south, with Lake Zorkol at its northern edge. Side valleys carrying the Abakhan, Manjulak, Sargaz, and Tulibai rivers feed into the Pamir River, and the valley is traditionally used as summer grazing land by Wakhi and Kyrgyz herders and supports Marco Polo sheep, snow leopards, ibex, and brown bears.
