Glover's Reef

Glover's Reef is a partially submerged atoll in the Caribbean Sea off the southern coast of Belize, about forty five kilometers from the mainland, and one of three atolls, alongside Turneffe Atoll and Lighthouse Reef, that form the outer edge of the Belize Barrier Reef system. It measures about thirty two kilometers long and twelve kilometers wide, covering some 86,653 acres, and its interior lagoon holds roughly 850 reef patches, giving it one of the greatest diversities of reef types in the western Caribbean. It was made a marine reserve in 1993 and was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.
