The Fox Valley, also called the Fox River Valley, is a region centered on the Fox River of northern Illinois, along the western edge of the Chicago metropolitan area. It extends from the village of Antioch in far northern Illinois south to the city of Ottawa, encompassing rural areas, suburban development and nineteenth century downtowns, with around one million people living in the region. The Potawatomi, Sauk and Meskwaki peoples historically lived in the area.
