Folgefonna is the collective name for three plateau glaciers on the Folgefonna peninsula in the Hardanger region of Vestland county, Norway, spread across the municipalities of Ullensvang, Kvinnherad and Etne. The three glaciers, Nordre (Northern) Folgefonna at about 26 square kilometers, Midtre (Central) Folgefonna at about 11 square kilometers, and Sondre (Southern) Folgefonna at about 167 square kilometers and the third-largest mainland glacier in Norway, together covered about 207 square kilometers as of 2006 and reach a maximum ice thickness of about 375 meters. Major outflow glaciers including Blomstolskardbreen, Bondhusbreen and Buarbreen descend from the plateau, meltwater from the ice feeds Sandvinvatnet lake and the bottled water brand Isklar, and a national park was established in 2005 to protect the glaciers and surrounding landscape.
