Eureka Valley (Inyo County)

Eureka Valley is a valley in Inyo County in eastern California, about 28 miles long and up to 10 miles wide, with elevations ranging from 2,870 to 8,456 feet. It is a graben, like most other lower-lying areas of the Basin and Range Province, bounded by the Last Chance Range to the east and the Saline Mountains to the west, with its southern section now part of Death Valley National Park. Wind patterns collect sand near the valley southern end, forming its distinctive dunes, though the original source of the sand is uncertain.
