The Escuminac Formation is a Late Devonian sedimentary formation exposed along Chaleur Bay near Miguasha in Quebec, Canada, roughly three hundred and eighty million years old, preserving an exceptionally rich assemblage of Devonian fish, including Eusthenopteron, a lobe-finned fish closely related to the ancestors of four-limbed land vertebrates. The formation is protected within Miguasha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized for its importance to understanding the evolutionary transition from fish to tetrapods.
