Engstligenalp is a plateau in the western Swiss Alps, south of Adelboden in the Bernese Oberland, at an elevation of 1,900 to 2,000 meters. The oval plateau covers about seven square kilometers, roughly a kilometer wide and two kilometers long, ringed by mountains including the Wildstrubel to the southwest. Its alpine pastures are crossed by streams that converge at its outlet to form the Engstligen Falls, which drop some 600 meters down the adjoining valley wall and rank among the most impressive waterfalls in the western Swiss Alps, and since 1996 the plateau has been protected as one of Switzerland's landscapes of national importance.
