Emuruangogolak

Emuruangogolak is an active shield volcano straddling the Gregory Rift in Kenya, its summit holding a caldera measuring about 3.5 by 5.0 kilometers, at an elevation of about 1,285 meters, with a formation age estimated at about 38,000 years. Its last known eruption produced a trachyte lava flow in 1910, and steam vents and fumarolic activity continue from fissures within the caldera and along the volcano's flanks, alongside several maar lakes in the adjacent rift valley. This entity documents Emuruangogolak specifically as a geological formation, an active Gregory Rift shield volcano whose caldera and flanks still vent steam and fumarolic gases.
