A dambo is a class of complex shallow wetland found in central, southern and eastern Africa, particularly in Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe. Dambos are generally found in higher rainfall flat plateau areas and have river like branching forms that, while individually not very large, combine to cover a large total area; they have been estimated to comprise ten to twelve percent of the area of Zambia.
