The Cyclades are an archipelago of Greek islands in the Aegean Sea, southeast of the Greek mainland, once a former administrative prefecture of Greece. They form one of the island groups making up the wider Aegean archipelago. The small island of Delos, sacred to Ancient Greek religion, sits at the group center, and the surrounding islands are traditionally understood to take their collective name from their arrangement around it.
