Corral Hollow is a canyon about 10 miles (16 km) long along a middle reach of Corral Hollow Creek in California Diablo Range, at the junction of the San Joaquin Valley and the range, with its western portion in Alameda County and its eastern portion in San Joaquin County. Its bedrock is quartz-rich sandstone of the Eocene Tesla Formation, overlain on the canyon floor by river-deposited pebbles and coarse sand. The canyon is an important wildlife corridor and marks the northern limit for several desert-adapted species such as the glossy snake, the black-headed snake and the spadefoot toad; it was the site of the coal mining towns Tesla and Carnegie, fully abandoned after a flood in 1911, and in 2022 California banned off-road vehicle use on the protected land.
