Comox Glacier lies in Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, about 30 kilometers southwest of Courtenay and a kilometer west of Argus Mountain in the Vancouver Island Ranges, with its highest point reaching 1,960 meters at a rocky outcrop on the glacier's north side. The glacier is named for the Komoks First Nation, whose people call the mountain Kwenis, meaning whale, after a traditional flood story; it was earlier known as Dome Glacier before being renamed in 1939 at the recommendation of the Comox and District Mountaineering Club. The first recorded ascent was made in August 1922 by George Kinney, Alfred McNevin, James Tremlett, and Harold Banks.
