A cliffed coast, also called an abrasion coast, is a coastline shaped by the erosive action of marine waves into steep cliffs, which may or may not be sheer. It stands in contrast to a flat or alluvial coast, where sediment deposition rather than wave driven erosion dominates the shoreline form.
