Chocolate Glacier lies on the eastern slopes of Glacier Peak in the U.S. state of Washington, descending from about 10,400 feet to 5,900 feet and partially connected to the neighboring Cool Glacier. Like the other glaciers on Glacier Peak, it has generally been retreating, losing about 1,380 meters of length between 1906 and 1946 before advancing 450 meters during a cooler, wetter period from about 1950 to 1979. It has since resumed retreating, giving back about 350 meters and nearing its previous minimum length, and its lowest 300 meters are now stagnant while the glacier above remains heavily crevassed and active up to 1,900 meters.
