China Danxia is the collective UNESCO World Heritage designation for the Danxia landform, a set of landscapes found in southeast, southwest, and northwest China consisting of red-bed formations with steep cliffs. Danxia landform is a distinctive type of petrographic geomorphology formed from red-colored sandstones and conglomerates of largely Cretaceous age, resembling limestone karst topography in appearance though geologists call it a pseudo-karst landform because it forms in sandstone and conglomerate rather than limestone, shaped by both endogenous and exogenous forces.
