Cheddar Gorge is a limestone gorge in the Mendip Hills, near the village of Cheddar in Somerset, England. It is the site of the Cheddar show caves, produced by the activity of an underground river and containing stalactites and stalagmites, where Britain's oldest complete human skeleton, the roughly 9,000-year-old Cheddar Man, was found in 1903 along with older Upper Palaeolithic remains. The gorge forms part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest known as the Cheddar Complex.
