Charlestown Neck

Charlestown Neck was the isthmus that once connected the Charlestown peninsula, in what is now Boston, Massachusetts, to the mainland later occupied by Somerville. Roads to Everett, Medford, Cambridge and Somerville converged there, and the Middlesex Canal entered near it. The neck has since been built over, and the traffic circle known as Sullivan Square now occupies roughly the same ground.
