The Chafarinas Islands are a group of three small Spanish islets in the Alboran Sea off the coast of Africa, covering a combined 0.525 square kilometers about 45 kilometers east of Nador and 3.3 kilometers off the Moroccan town of Ras Kebdana. The islands are uninhabited except for a Spanish Army garrison, and Morocco claims the group as part of its territory, making it one of the disputed North African possessions of Spain known as plazas de soberania.
