Cathedral Rock is a sandstone butte in the Coconino National Forest near Sedona, Arizona, about a mile west of State Route 179 and roughly 2.5 miles south of uptown Sedona. Its summit stands at 4,967 feet elevation, and its distinctive spired silhouette makes it one of the most photographed natural landmarks in the state. A short, steep trail climbs from the Back O'Beyond trailhead to the saddle points, or gaps, between the rock's spires, drawing large numbers of hikers.
