Bara Shigri, meaning Great Glacier in the local language, is the largest glacier in Himachal Pradesh, India, lying in the Lahaul and Spiti region of the Inner Himalayas on the northern slopes of the Pir Panjal Range. As of 2016 it measured 27.7 kilometers long and covered about 126.45 square kilometers, descending from a headwall at 6,363 meters to a snout at 3,984 meters, with clean ice in its upper accumulation zone giving way to heavy debris cover lower down. It feeds the Chandra River by way of the Shigri stream, ultimately joining the Chenab River system, and a small antimony ore deposit near the glacier is one of the few known occurrences of that mineral in India.
