The Antipodes Islands are an uninhabited group of volcanic islands in subantarctic waters south of New Zealand, of which they are a territorial part. The archipelago covers about 21 square kilometers and lies roughly 860 kilometers southeast of Stewart Island and 730 kilometers northeast of Campbell Island, and its terrain is considered inhospitable.
