Amah Rock is a naturally shaped granite formation on a hilltop in the Sha Tin District of Hong Kong, inside Lion Rock Country Park, roughly 250 meters above the entrance to the Lion Rock Tunnel. The rock stands about 15 meters tall and dates to the Mesozoic era, and its silhouette resembles a woman carrying a child on her back. Local legend holds that a fisherman wife climbed the hillside daily to watch for her husband, unaware he had drowned at sea, and was turned to stone by the Goddess of the Sea so her spirit could join his; Chinese women still visit the site to honor her faithfulness.
