Abruzzi Glacier lies north of Baltoro Kangri in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, flowing northwest before turning west to merge with the Baltoro Glacier, one of the largest glaciers outside the polar regions. From its upper reaches it offers views of K2, the world's second-highest mountain, and it is named for Prince Luigi Amedeo, Duke of the Abruzzi, the Italian mountaineer and Arctic explorer whose 1909 Karakoram expedition produced early geographical and glaciological surveys of the area.
