Era

Statherian

Proterozoic

The fourth and final period of the Paleoproterozoic era, spanning 1.8 billion to 1.6 billion years ago and closing out the era. Fossils from the Changcheng Group in North China dating to the Statherian provide evidence that eukaryotic life was already diverse by the late Paleoproterozoic, and the supercontinent Columbia was fully assembled by this time.
