The Krakatoa Archipelago is a small, uninhabited group of volcanic islands formed by the Krakatoa stratovolcano in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra, Indonesia. As of 2018 it consisted of four main islands, Verlaten (Sertung) to the northwest, Lang (Rakata Kecil, or Panjang) to the northeast, Rakata to the south as the main remnant of the original volcano, and the still-active Anak Krakatoa at its center. The islands sit within the Indonesian island arc created by the northeastward subduction of the Indo-Australian Plate and have been continually reshaped throughout recorded history, most notably by the catastrophic 1883 eruption of Krakatoa. Administratively the archipelago lies entirely within Lampung province and forms part of Ujung Kulon National Park.
