This group collects the Valleys subcategory's members located in South America, principally valleys of the Andes across Chile, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia, together with named valleys in Brazil and elsewhere on the continent. Many of these valleys sit at high elevation within the Andean chain and have long histories of human settlement and agriculture, distinct in both scale and climate from the subcategory's other continent groups.
