The Jelenia Góra Valley, whose name means Deer Mountain Valley, is a large valley on the Silesian northern side of the Western Sudetes in Poland, and, after the Kłodzko Valley, the largest intermontane basin of the Sudetes. It lies at an altitude of 250 to 400 meters above sea level and covers an area of 273 square kilometers. In the nineteenth century its landscape attracted the Prussian high nobility, who built palaces, manors and parks there, turning the valley into one of the most important garden landscapes in Central Europe; its palaces and landscape parks were designated one of Poland's official national Historic Monuments in 2011.
