Submerged Continent

Structural and Tectonic Formations

A submerged continent, sometimes called a sunken continent, is a large expanse of continental crust that lies mainly beneath the sea. Some paleogeologists and geographers use the term for certain landmasses whose continental type crust is now mostly covered by ocean rather than exposed above sea level.
