All Atmospheric Optical Phenomena

This group collects the Meteorology subcategory's members that are optical effects produced by light interacting with the atmosphere, water droplets or ice crystals: halos, arcs, coronas, glories, iridescent clouds, rainbows' fogbow and moonbow cousins, and the scattering effects behind a blue sky and a red sunset. These are physical light phenomena with a well understood optical explanation, distinct from this subcategory's Unexplained and Folkloric Lights group, whose members lack a settled physical account or are reported ground-level lights rather than sky optics.
