All Mesas, Buttes and Plateau Remnants

Isolated flat-topped hills and long table-like ridges left standing as the surrounding plateau is eroded away, such as buttes, mesas and potreros. A landform belongs here when its cited article calls it a mesa, a butte or a long mesa sloping to higher ground. It excludes badlands, rock pillars and erosion surfaces. Steep sides of resistant rock cap softer layers below, and a mesa narrows into a butte and then a pillar as erosion continues.
