Flat coast

Landform Concepts

At a flat coast, or flat shoreline, the land descends gradually into the sea rather than dropping in cliffs. Flat coasts form either where the sea advances over gently sloping terrain or through the abrasion of loose rock, and they are generally described in two parallel strips, the shoreface and the beach.
