Polje

Karst Caves and Sinkholes

A polje, also called a karst polje or karst field, is a large flat plain found in karst regions, typically covering an area of 5 to 400 square kilometers. The name comes from the Slavic word polje, meaning field, though in English the word polje refers specifically to this kind of karst plain.
