Wind-Sculpted Landforms

Landforms carved and shaped by wind, including yardangs cut from bedrock and the ridges of hard-packed snow called sastrugi. A landform belongs here when its cited article names wind abrasion or wind erosion as the shaping process. It excludes water-cut ridges and plateau forms. They align with the prevailing wind, so their long axes record wind direction over long periods in deserts and polar regions, and geologists use their alignment to map past winds.
