Tall thin spires and pillars of soft rock capped by a harder stone, called hoodoos, earth pillars or fairy chimneys, and the parks and fields where they stand in numbers. A landform belongs here when its cited article calls it a hoodoo, an earth pillar or a pinnacle formation. It excludes plain badlands and sea stacks. Hoodoos grow where a resistant cap shelters the softer column beneath it from rain, so the shapes differ by rock type and climate.
