Valleys

The Simmental is an alpine valley in the Bernese Oberland region of the canton of Bern, Switzerland, followed by the Simme river. It runs south to north as the Obersimmental between Lenk and Boltigen, then west to east as the Niedersimmental toward Wimmis near Spiez. Nine communities lie within the valley: Lenk, St. Stephan, Zweisimmen, Boltigen, Oberwil, Darstetten, Erlenbach, Diemtigen, and Wimmis. Lenk and Zweisimmen are winter tourism destinations with connections to the nearby resorts of Gstaad and Chateau d'Oex.
