Glaciers and Ice Formations

Frostisen, called Ruostajiekna in Northern Sami, is a plateau glacier in Narvik municipality in Nordland county, Norway, covering about twenty five square kilometers at elevations between 840 and 1,710 meters. It lies southwest of the town of Narvik near the Skjomen fjord, an arm of the Ofotfjorden, with the village of Elvegard about six kilometers to its east, and it ranks among Norway larger plateau glaciers. Several lakes, including Geitvatnet, Isvatnet, Kjelvatnet and two lakes both named Bukkevatnet, lie to its southwest.
