Harrison Glacier is a glacier in Glacier National Park, Montana, on a southeast-facing ridge south of Mount Jackson, and is the largest glacier remaining in the park. It covered about 466 acres as of 2005 and is roughly half a mile long, with its accumulation zone at about 9,000 feet, a higher elevation than the park's other glaciers, which helps it maintain a more stable mass balance. It lost only nine percent of its surface area between 1966 and 2005, a far slower rate than its neighbors, and photographs from 1913 and 2009 show thinning and retreat even as it is expected to persist well beyond 2030, when many of the park's other glaciers are predicted to vanish.
