Bagrot Valley is a valley in the Karakoram range of Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan, about 38 kilometres from Gilgit city, carried from north to southwest by the River Bagrot before it joins the Gilgit River. It ranges in elevation from 2,500 to 4,500 metres beneath peaks including Rakaposhi at 7,788 metres, Diran at 7,266 metres and Miar Peak at 6,824 metres, fed by glaciers at Doboi, Gargo and Rakaposhi. The valley's rock is mainly from the Chalt Group, including metavolcanic and ultramafic rock along with younger diorite and granite intrusions, with higher-grade metamorphic rock such as garnet-staurolite schist appearing in places. Its Shina-speaking Bagoreh residents grow wheat, potatoes, tomatoes, apples, pears and apricots, and also harvest glacial ice for sale in Gilgit.
