Spiti

Spiti is a high-altitude region of the Himalayas in the northeastern part of Himachal Pradesh, India. Its name means the middle land, reflecting its position between Tibet and the rest of India. The region is built around the valley of the Spiti River and the valleys of the tributary rivers that feed into it, including the Pin and Lingti valleys. Spiti is bordered by Tibet to the east, Ladakh to the north, Lahaul to the west and southwest, Kullu to the south and Kinnaur to the southeast, and has a cold desert environment. It is one of the least populated regions of India, and its Bhoti-speaking population follows Tibetan Buddhism.
